Professor Regina Eyindia Ogali just got her appointment as University of Port Harcourt acting vice chancellor till the University elects a new VC.
The announcement of Professor Regina Enyindia Ogali as the acting vice chancellor of uniport was by the deputy registrar Dr. Williams Wodi.
Dr.Wodi said that Professor Regina Eyindia Ogali would oversee the affairs of the University till there’s a new VC.
“By a letter from the Federal Ministry of Education dated May 29, Prof. Regina Ogali, a Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) will oversee the affairs of UNIPORT.
“Ogali will oversee the affairs of the university while the incumbent vice chancellor, Prof. Ndowa Lale, proceeds on his leave starting June 12.” He said.
Minister of Education well wishes to Professor Ndowa Lake.
“A letter signed on behalf of Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Sonny Echono announced Ogali’s appointment.
“The minister wished Lale well in his future endeavours following his successful tenure in office as the 8th vice chancellor of UNIPORT,” Dr. Williams Wodi said.

Professor Regina Enyidia Ogali is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University. She is a Professor of Organic/Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
Prof. Ogali joined the services of University of Port Harcourt in 1978 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry. In between this period, she went to Chelsea College and King’s College, both of University of London where she obtained her M.Phil and Ph.D degrees in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. She rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Organic/Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2010.Her research interest is in organic medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry. However, she is a subject expert in organic synthesis and spectroscopy. She has supervised many Undergraduates, Masters and PhD students in her discipline.
Prof. Ogali has served the University of Port Harcourt in different capacities. She had served as Associate Dean, Student Affairs (1997-2000); Acting Head of Department of Pure & Industrial Chemistry (2003-2005); Member, University Professional Ethics Committee (2006-2012); Director, Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (2010-2015); Member, representing Senate in the University Governing Council (2013 – 2016) and Dean, School of Graduate Studies (2015-2017) among others, before she became the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) in April, 2017.
Prof. Ogali attended Holy Rosary Primary School, Aba from where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate with Distinction, in 1965. She finished her secondary education at Ovom Girls’ High School, Aba and obtained her West African School Certificate in Division I in 1972. In 1973, she was admitted into University of Nigeria, Nsukka to study Chemistry. While at UNN, she had a Foundation Award and graduated in 1977 with a BSc degree in Chemistry with First Class Honours. She was the best graduating student in the Department for that year. She thereafter served the mandatory National Youth Service Corps programme at the Department of Chemistry, University of Ilorin, Kwara State from 1977 to 1978.

She has published several books and scholarly articles in reputed local and international scientific journals in her area of specialisation.
She has been external examiner to the undergraduate and postgraduate chemistry programmes of some universities and has served on many National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Panels to Nigerian Universities.
